Temple sur Lot Camp 2026
UoNBC had the incredible opportunity to travel overseas to France for our Easter rowing camp this year; the first international trip since pre-COVID. On the 6th of April, 60 athletes flew to Bordeaux for a week of focused training on the River Lot in Temple-sur-Lot.
Across the week, athletes embraced the demanding training schedule with enthusiasm and determination, turning up to every session ready to push themselves. The commitment from both the men’s and women’s squads was outstanding, with the club collectively completing hundreds of kilometres on the water.
The camp was designed to maximise training quality, allowing athletes to prioritise recovery, refuelling, and consistency. With ideal rowing conditions and the opportunity to get on the water every day, crews were able to complete long-distance sessions, including 28km outings, to build endurance and start race preparation ahead of BUCS in early May.
Beyond the training, the camp also provided a valuable opportunity for squad bonding, strengthening the club culture, and bringing athletes even closer together for the summer racing season.
A huge thank you to the coaches who drove the trailer from Nottingham across the border to France and supported athletes throughout the week, both on and off the water. We would also like to thank the committee for organising the trip and ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Finally, thank you to all our athletes for their hard work and commitment to make the most of every training opportunity during the week.
Temple-sur-Lot 2026 was a fantastic success and has set a strong foundation for the remainder of the season.
